The vegetable sector has the lowest self-sufficiency in the Czech agricultural sector (domestic production barely covers one third of consumption) and according to some economists, the “twilight of Czech tomatoes” is approaching due to high consumer prices. Paradoxically, however, in our particular case – tomatoes from Farma Bezdínek – we are now faced with a situation where buyers in some supermarket chains are not willing to buy our produce at the price of imports and we are forced to export part of our production to the Netherlands.
